One of the secrets of having a put together outfit is planning ahead. I find this strategy better than rushing to find something to wear right of the butt. In this blog post I will share to you my process on preparing my office outfit for the week.
I will blog about this so that I also have something to look at to as my reference week on week.
I know that I blogged about Old Money Style but after doing this in a week and buying some outfits, I noticed that this style is a bit boring and not really align with how I want to project myself at 46.
You know, when you are at this age, no one will pay attention to you if you are dressing blandly. I realized I want the following:
- Attractiveness and modernity - which will be attained if I will add colors to my wardrobe. To attain this, I downloaded a Color Wheel online that I can use for my color combinations. I highly suggest you do this, too so that you won't combine two colors that clashes.
- Sophistication and Classic - suitable for my age.
- Comfortability - Since walking to work and back home is my way to exercise, I prefer sneakers over any other shoes. This is against Old Money Fashion style, but this is what made me feel comfortable.
Now here are the outfit combinations with exact clothes designs I have in my wardrobe.
1. Thursday OOTD
My day in the office this week starts at Thursday so a casual business outfit will do. Our office allows us to wear any (just don't wear skirts that are too short, shorts, sleeveless and ripped jeans). I have the pink trousers which I got from the package of my mother from Saudi. I also have black t-shirt and black trousers. It looks like Carmen Gimeno is wearing converse or vans here but maybe my plain black sneaker will do.
2. Friday OOTD
Normally, Friday is a theme day in the office but since I do not know their themed colors this week, I'd like to prepare my own choice.
A combination of my favorite black and white polka dot to pair with a black pants or trouser. Plain white shoes or black can be paired to this.
But of you want to add an accent to it, you can add red to make you look more attractive. I guess, I would wear my maroon sneakers:-).
3. Saturday OOTD
Saturday is more freedom so I can wear denim or "maong" pants. I have this kind of printed button down which I thrifted last year. For a more informal wear, I'll opt to this outfit.
4. Sunday OOTD
Well, I'll be using the same maong pants and add some stripped long sleeve shirt with my dark blue blazer which I seldom wear. I would replace the coat here because it's not necessary for a Sunday outfit.
5. Monday OOTD
Finally, it's my last day but since it's Monday, I would go with this light-blue top and my grayish pleated skirt which I seldom wear, too.
Now let me share to you my process of finding and preparing my outfit of the week.
1. I Google it or look in Pinterest. With the latter, I would normally save in my mood board, with Google, I would take a screenshot and send it to my son via messenger.
2. I would search my wardrobe for the combinations I found then hang them.
3. I would iron them together with five handkerchiefs I'd be using all throughout the five days' work. I also iron the uniforms of my youngest child.
4. Once done, I would hang them again in the order days when I'll be using the outfit.
Then I'm ready. The advantage of doing this is that it will save you time during the busy week and it saves you also from decision fatigue while still looking presentable and put together at work.
